TV shows that have overstayed their welcome: Sister Wives

TLC has a problem with giving airtime to toxic people. The next one on the list is Sister Wives. This series follows Kody Brown and his four wives. Well, it did. The most recent season saw three of his wives find the courage to leave him.

What is left for this family? I want to see a spin-off of Christine and Janelle continuing their little unit they and their kids formed. Maybe Meri can join them, although I don’t feel like she was ever really that close to either of them.

Either way, I just want to see Kody gone. He is an awful person who expected to have his cake and eat it too, and that’s not the way the world works. Let’s cancel the show now.

TV shows that have overstayed their welcome: The Simpsons

Growing up, my parents didn’t really like me watching The Simpsons. I couldn’t understand why until I got older. Why is it that we find this sort of comedy still funny? Okay, there are some endearing storylines and I’m happy with episodes that aren’t so Homer-heavy, but he’s just downright awful most of the time.

There are only so many antics that the Simpson family can get up to. Most of those storylines have run their courses. Let’s have the Treehouse of Horror specials once a year now and that be it. They’re really the only storylines that remain entertaining at this point.

TV shows that have overstayed their welcome: Law & Order: SVU

Law & Order: SVU is the longest-running of the three shows in the franchise. It’s the one we’ll focus on for this, but really, the whole franchise needs to go. The problem is the ratings remain strong for NBC, but the shows are taking up airtime from something new that could be exciting and different. We have plenty of crime dramas on the air!

Let’s just look at how the storylines aren’t really all that original. They are literally ripped from the headlines. While it’s great that they raise awareness about some important topics, some creativity would be appreciated.

Plus, the show is removing fan-favorite characters because of budget problems. This is what happened in the OG Charmed, and we weren’t happy about it then.

TV shows that have overstayed their welcome: Family Guy

I think Family Guy is a little worse than The Simpsons. Is there anything redeemable about Peter? I can never see it. The whole family is just awful a lot of the time. At least Marg tries to look out for all three of her kids in The Simpsons, which is more than what Lois does.

I’d happily watch a spin-off of Stewie and Brian. Other than that, the storylines are getting stale and the characters aren’t all that amusing anymore. There has to be other animated shows that could perform well. Streamers are canceling a few that could perform well on broadcast if given a chance.

TV shows that have overstayed their welcome: Riverdale

Okay, the good news is Riverdale is coming to an end with its upcoming season. The bad news is that this is probably two or three seasons too late. Was there really any need for the time jump? Did a lot of our characters have to lose their character development in that time?

I’ll admit, I haven’t really liked Riverdale from the start. But there were a lot of people who did, and I was happy for them. Then it just seemed like there was one jump the shark moment to the next. I followed threads of fans just go “WTF?” and not in a good way.

When you find your fanbase is questioning storylines and your sanity, it’s probably time to dial it back. Riverdale was more like a teen soap opera rather than the show based on the awesome comics it was supposed to be.
