8 new Netflix movies and shows to watch this week (January 23)

Happy birthday, week to me! I say you can tell your boss that you deserve a week off paid because of it! Like we do each and every week, we’re sharing all the new Netflix movies and shows debuting beginning the week of Jan. 23, 2022.

I love that Netflix is celebrating my birthday with the release of a couple of series that I’ve been looking forward to checking out. That said, you have a wide range of content, including something for the little ones in an animated film, a reality show showing people’s survival skills, and a show seeing the return of a comedy god. We can’t ask for a much better lineup.

Hands down, the film I’ve been dying to see since the trailer was released is You People. The movie, written by Jonah Hill and Kenya Barris, is about a couple and how their families clash because of different cultures. The series stars Jonah Hill, Eddie Murphy, Lauren London, Nia Long, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. I mean, that is a stacked cast with some true comedic timing. I can’t wait.

The other big release comes in the form of ghosts and the supernatural in Lockwood & Co. The series follows a company run by Anthony Lockwood, an entrepreneur who is haunted by his past. His sidekick George and friend Lucy, join together to unravel a mystery that will change the course of history.
