The Bachelor season 27 premiere: Who is Sean Lowe?

We’ve made it to another journey to finding true love, Bachelor Nation! The Bachelor season 27 begins tonight on ABC, following Zach Shallcross’ second shot at romance. The 26-year-old former college athlete competed on Gabby and Rachel’s season of The Bachelorette, but as you all know, he did not go home engaged. Now, he’s ready to try love again and has 30 women vying for his final rose. In the premiere tonight, we get to meet these lovely ladies and see who he has an instant connection with.

But before Zach gets to meet them all during the limo entrances, he seeks advice from a familiar face, one who’s been through it all before — a former Bachelor! That’s right, the premiere of The Bachelor season 27 opens up with a blast from the past. And that would be Sean Lowe!

If you’re a newer fan of the Bachelor franchise or simply haven’t watched every season, you might need a refresher on who Sean is. He’s been in Zach’s shoes before, but when? And what happened in his season?

When was Sean Lowe the Bachelor?

Sean was the star of The Bachelor season 17 back in January 2013. He’s from Texas and also played college football just like Zach, attending Kansas State. In his season, Sean was between the final two contestants, Catherine Giudici and Lindsay Yenter, and ultimately went with Catherine. The two got married in 2014 and are still together today! They have three adorable children and seem to be extremely happy.

In the new season of The Bachelor, Zach confides in Sean about what he’s looking for this time around, and Sean explains that maybe “the one” for him is someone he won’t realize right away. Sean explains that he didn’t know Catherine was the one he’d end up with at first, but about halfway through the season, he figured it out.

It can be so fun to see former contestants and stars appear on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, but sometimes we just need a reminder of who they are!
