HBO Max’s Velma is now the lowest-rated animated series ever on IMDb

HBO Max’s new adult animated series Velma premiered on Jan. 12, 2023 and the show has released four episodes as of this writing on Jan. 23, 2023. Unfortunately, the series is not doing well with viewers. At all. Jinkies!

The animated comedy is a spin-off of sorts to the Scooby-Doo cartoon we all grew up with. But this time around, the story focuses on a the brains behind the Mystery Inc. gang and we get to see just how the infamous group was formed. But don’t expect to see everyone’s favorite crime-solving dog, as the series didn’t include him for a few reasons.

As of Jan. 23, 2023, HBO Max’s Velma has a 1.3/10 rating on IMDb based on around  43,500 votes. Of those, almost 39,000 of the users gave the show a one-star. One account called the series “one of the worst programs ever made.” Another described watching it, saying “they made 27 minutes feel like an hour.”

The low rating not only makes the HBO Max production one of the lowest-rated animated series on the platform, but it’s also the third worst rated television show on IMDb, Forbes reports. The animation isn’t doing much better on Rotten Tomatoes either. It currently has a 50% rating on the review-aggregation site, with a 6% audience score.

Velma stars Mindy Kaling as Velma, Sam Richardson as Shaggy Rogers, Glenn Howerton as Fred Jones Jr., Constance Wu as Daphne Blake, Russell Peters as Aman Dinkley, Sarayu Blue as Diya Dinkley, Melissa Fumero as Sophie, Jane Lynch as Donna Blake, and Wanda Sykes as Linda Ke.
