When are the Oscars this year?

The 95th Academy Awards are set to air Sunday, March 12, 2023 on ABC. The three-hour ceremony begins at 8 p.m. ET, and will take place in the show’s regular home at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood. Comedian Jimmy Kimmel has been tapped to host for a third time. He previously took on those duties at the 89th and 90th Oscars ceremonies.

The very first Oscars ceremony took place May 16, 1929. It was hosted by the AMPAS president at the time, Douglas Fairbanks, and was more of a private dinner. It was held at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles, California. It’s amazing how far the show has come!
