Shrinking theme song: What song plays during the opening?
If you’ve been looking forward to seeing Apple TV+’s new comedy, Shrinking, then I’m sure you’re happy premiere day is finally here! The show debuted Jan. 27, 2023 with the first two episodes on the streamer. And they proved the series is off to a great start!

The first episode gets right to the point – we meet Jimmy, played by actor Jason Segel, who is grieving the loss of his wife following a car accident. What makes her passing even more emotional for the therapist is that they were arguing the last time he saw her. He isn’t in a great place and when speaking with one of his patients, he snaps.
One of his clients is clearly has an emotionally abusive husband. Breaking the rules of being a psychiatrist, Jimmy can’t stay quiet anymore and tells her to leave him. When this works, he’s motivated to help another of his patients in an unconventional way. When he sees that starting to help too, that’s when the grieving husband and father decides to be a “psychological vigilante” and be brutally honest with those he interacts with.

The show’s main title theme is called “Frightening Fishes” and it’s played by the rock band, Death Cab for Cutie. The song is written and recorded by band member Benjamin Gibbard and composer Tom Howe. While you can definitely hear it at the beginning, if you really like it you can listen to it below as well!
The band formed in 1997 and has five members: Ben Gibbard, Nick Harmer, Dave Depper, Zac Rae, and Jason McGerr. The group’s fourth album in 2003, Transatlanticism, has various songs used in movies and television shows.
