Criminal Minds: Evolution episode 9, “Memento Mori,” left us screaming for more, whether out of frustration or fear. With Rossi getting closer than the BAU has ever been in the investigation, it only showed us just how eager Elias Voit is not to get caught.

Despite Rossi meeting with Voit’s wife, Bridget, Elias was able to convince her not to trust him, claiming the agent is dangerous. In fact, Elias was confident enough to talk to Rossi himself, making it seem like he was willing to talk, knowing that other than being present in certain areas, they didn’t have enough to prove he’s their serial killer.

Since Rossi was alone and not with the team, he ended up in danger and became Voit’s hostage. But, even though he’s a hostage, he was followed by Tyler Green once the latter learned Voit’s identity.

Eventually, the team also learned Garcia’s having sex with Tyler, first with her admitting it to Luke and then through Tyler when he used a voicemail from Garcia to send it to Rossi so he could find his location. While it hasn’t been dealt with yet, we know Prentiss wasn’t going to be happy. Not only did Garcia lie about ending things with Tyler, but she also put their case in jeopardy.

Criminal Minds: Evolution episode 9 puts a character in danger

Now with Rossi being abducted, they were at least able to figure out where he was. Unfortunately, Elias had been able to escape after shooting Tyler while goading him about Allison’s death. He escaped with Rossi and locked him in a shipping container, live streaming it to the BAU and threatening them if they didn’t leave his family alone.

This episode also provided us with flashbacks to key moments for the characters, such as Rossi after his wife’s funeral and Luke and Garcia’s disaster of a date. Honestly, Luke, you deserved better. Plus, we also saw how Tara and Rebecca met. Even though it looks like they made amends in the episode, Rebecca has a job offer that will take her to California. Perhaps Tara might make another attempt to fight for them?

With Rossi in danger, we can only hope the team will be able to finally get the upper hand on Elias, who is now hiding away in a motel with his wife. We’re nervous for the season finale, which will air on Feb. 9. Maybe they’ll bring Reid or Simmons back to help the team during their time of need.
