The film, directed by Dave Franco and written by him and Alison Brie, is being billed as “an unconventional love story about three people who unexpectedly help each other re-discover who they really are, where they came from, and where they’re going.”
We’re introduced to Ally (Brie), a TV producer who lives to work. She has a major professional setback that sees her returning to her hometown. There she reconnects with Sean (Jay Ellis), her first love. Through their conversations, Ally begins to question the person she’s become since their romance ended.
It seems as if the two may be making progress toward a possible reunion and then Ally’s blindsided by the knowledge that not only is Sean involved with someone but he’s also getting married. Cassidy (Kiersey Clemons) is the love in his life and she reminds Ally of herself. She had once stepped confidently into her creative convictions just like Cassidy and embraced life fully and unreserved.
Now Ally doesn’t know what she wants and these feelings are complicated by her attraction to Sean and her respect for Cassidy. With the wedding fast approaching, these three need to figure out just what it is their doing and whether coming into each other’s lives could change them for the better.
