Who doesn’t love Shrek? Honestly! The DreamWorks Animation-produced film became such a hit when the first movie made its theatrical debut in 2001. And even until now, the story of the once solitude-loving ogre and his Princess Fiona are watched by many!

The first film introduces us to the titular character who is an ogre happily living alone in a swamp. But when the evil Lord Farquaad banishes certain fairytale characters to his home, his solitude is broken. And so, Shrek decides to make a deal with the lord to find a different place for the exiled characters. This leads him to saving Princess Fiona who is trapped in a castle guarded by a dragon. And from there the adventure begins, even though Shrek and Fiona don’t get along at first. But soon, sparks fly!

The first film was really important for DreamWorks Animation because it helped establish the company as a major competitor to Pixar. The 2001 movie grossed over $491 million worldwide, and is in the U.S. Library of Congress’ National Film Registry. So impressive!

Due to its success of course there’s been quite a few sequels. To help keep you on track, we’ve listed them all below and where you can currently watch the productions online!
