Horror fans, look alive! There’s a new remake on the way of one of Stephen King’s most beloved short stories and it’ll be here faster than you know it! Kurt Wimmer, who wrote screenplays for movies like Salt (2010), Law Abiding Citizen (2009), and Total Recall (2012) has recreated the world of Children of the Corn for a new film.
But if you’ve been following the project, you’ll know it actually premiered back in October 2020, though it was not distributed widely. Shudder and RLJE Films acquired the rights this year and we now, finally, have a theatrical and digital release date!

As confirmed by Bloody Disgusting, the Children of the Corn remake is headed to theaters on March 3 for an 18-day run before being released on via digital and On Demand on March 21. Whether you’re willing to go to your local movie theater for this one or would rather watch it from the comfort of your own home, we don’t have much longer to wait now!

Actress Elena Kampouris, 25, will star in Children of the Corn as main character Boleyn Williams. Kampouris has appeared in movies like Men, Women & Children (2014), My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 (2016), and Before I Fall (2017). Other cast members include Kate Moyer as Eden Edwards, Callan Mulvey as Robert Williams, and Bruce Spence as Pastor Penny, among others.

AMC shared what we can expect from the movie in a press release:
"In CHILDREN OF THE CORN, possessed by a spirit in a dying cornfield, a twelve-year-old girl in Nebraska recruits the other children in her small town to go on a bloody rampage and kill all the adults and anyone else who opposes her. A bright high schooler who won’t go along with the plan is the town’s only hope of survival."
