This January, The Rookie family lost a beloved member of the cast with the passing of actress Annie Wersching. Wersching sadly passed away at the age of 45 on Jan. 29 following a private battle with cancer.

Across her career, Wersching appeared in a number of television series with iconic roles in titles such as 24, Star Trek: Picard, Bosch, and Timeless. She was also part of The Rookie family having played a key role in the ABC crime drama.

So it’s only fitting that the most recent episode of the ABC hit drama which aired on Feb. 14, ended with a sweet and emotional tribute to the late actress. It was a moment designed to honor her legacy and the impact she had on the show, but it’s a moment that has also created some questions among fans of the long-running drama.

Across three seasons of The Rookie, Annie Wersching brilliantly brought life to serial killer Rosalind Dyer. The role was one Wersching originated in the second episode of the season, with her character becoming a standout adversary for the LAPD — particularly Nathan Fillion’s character officer John Nolan.

Wersching’s final appearance on the show came in the fourth episode of season 5, “The Choice,” which saw her character killed off in a truly shocking moment. Rosalind’s death was one that was met with some disappointment among fans due to the fact that she had become one of the show’s most memorable recurring villains, leading to some unforgettable moments across the six episodes she appeared in.
