If you’re a book fan of Daisy Jones and The Six, you’ve likely been wondering how the Prime Video adaptation about the legendary but fictional ’70s band would change the story. As the teaser trailer has made clear, while the main plot does take place in the correct decade, the “present day” sequences will only be set 20 years in the future. What else has changed? Well, the Honeycomb lyrics have also been altered.

Considering the lyrics to “Regret Me” have been changed, too, this shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. However, it does seem to indicate that book fans should brace for major musical differences between the book and its series adaptation in.

The Honeycomb lyrics are different in the Daisy Jones and The Six series

The original lyrics to “Honeycomb” in Daisy Jones and The Six book spoke to Billy’s desire for the life he’d promised to his wife, Camila. He sang: “The Life we want will wait for us/We will live to see the lights coming off the bay/And you will hold me, you will hold me, you will hold me/until that day.”

Daisy changes them to “Will the life we want wait for us?/Will we live to see the lights coming off the bay?/Will you hold me, will you hold me until that day?” which brought a sense of doubt into the song that Billy couldn’t stand.

The show’s “Honeycomb” which is officially titled “Look At Us Now (Honeycomb)” doesn’t evoke the same emotion let alone contain the same lyrics. The lyrics also beg the question of who the song is for and if it was inspired by Camila at all.

Per Genius, the lyrics are as follows:

"I don’t know who I amBaby, baby, babyDo you know who you are?Is it out of our heads?Tell me, tell me, tell meHow we made it this farDid we unravel a long time ago?Is it too much? We don’t wanna knowI wish it was easy, but it isn’t slowOh, we could make a good thing badOh, we could make a good thing badNow, where do we stand?Baby, baby, babyNo one knows who you areAnd if this was your planTell me, tell me whyYou’ve been cryin’ in the darkWe unraveled a long time agoWe lost and we couldn’t let it goI wish it was easy, but it isn’t slowSo, babyOh, we could make a good thing bad (4x)How did wе get here? How do we get out?We used to be somethin’ to seeOh, baby, look at us nowOh, baby, look at us now‘Cause what we’ve been doin’ ain’t working outWhy can’t you just admit it to me?Oh, baby, look at us now (5x)How did we get here? How do we get out? This thing we’ve been doin’ ain’t working outOh, how did we get here? How do we get out?We used to be something to seeOh, baby, look at us nowBaby, look at us nowThis thing we’ve been doin’ ain’t working outWhy can’t you just admit it to me?Oh, baby, look at us nowBaby, look at us nowHow did we get here? How do we get out? This thing we’ve been doin’ ain’t working outOh, how did we get here? How do we get out?We used to be something to seeOh, baby, look at us nowBaby, look at us nowThis thing we’ve been doing ain’t working outWhy can’t you just admit it to me?Oh, baby, look at us nowBaby, look at us nowOh, we could make a good thing badOh, we could make a good thing bad"
