Here at Hidden Remote, where Elizabeth Olsen goes, we follow! The actress can do no wrong and we are here to serve! If you feel the same (and/or you enjoy crime-dramas) we share all you need to know about Olsen’s new series on HBO Max, Love and Death.

HBO announced Love and Death last year, right around the time Hulu revealed they were working on Candywhich is based on the same story as Love and Death. Needless to say, things could have gotten confusing, so it’s good that HBO decided to wait. Will the story be exactly the same or will events be followed differently?

Is Love and Death on HBO Max based on a true story?

Yes. Love and Death is based on a chilling true story. The series will follow the case of Candy Montgomery, a seemingly normal and calm housewife who murders her friend Betty Gore (and with an axe, no less), but Candy claims this was in self defense after Betty learned of her husband’s, Allan Gore, affair with Candy.

Watch the trailer below:

In the HBO Max series, Elizabeth Olsen portrays Candy Montgomery, while Jesse Plemons co-stars as Allan Gore. Lily Rabe stars as Betty Gore and Candy’s husband, Pat Montgomery, is played by Patrick Fugit.

The Hulu series, Candy, is also based on this same real crime story, with Jessica Biel as Candy and Melanie Lynskey as Betty Gore. You can stream the series on Hulu. But don’t let knowing the outcome of this case (or having watched Candy on Hulu) deter you from watching Love and Death. Elizabeth Olsen is a force and delivers a chilling performance.

Love and Death will premiere on HBO Max on April 27, 2023, with the first three episodes, followed by one weekly episode each Thursday through May 25. Will you be watching?
