Different shows have different episode lengths, so it can be hard to know how many weeks we need to tune in. So how long will it take for us to find out who the next American Idol is? We’ve got the answer for you below!

How many episodes are in American Idol season 21 (2023)?

As of Feb. 19, 2023, we don’t have an exact episode count for American Idol season 21 as the show’s network hasn’t shared that information yet. This is normal as the season has just begun, and it’s pretty typical to wait a while until we know for sure when the finale is.

But even then, it can be difficult because many times broadcasters will skip a week, sometimes for no reason. It has something to do with scheduling the many shows they have to juggle. Ah, the beauty of network television.

However, going off the previous seasons we do have an idea of how many potential episodes we’ll get in season 21. Since season 16 of the competition series, all of the seasons ran for a total of 19 episodes. Season 18, which aired and broadcast during the pandemic, was a shortened 16 episodes. The only other exception has been season 20 that had 20 episodes.

Going off of that pattern, we can strongly predict that American Idol season 21 will either be a total of 19 or 20 episodes. The finales are always sometime at the end of May, so be on the lookout for that as well. While we don’t have an exact episode count at the moment, be sure to bookmark this page! We’ll be updating it with information as it comes.
