We’re down another week of The Bachelor season 27, but unfortunately for star Zach Shallcross and his contestants, a lot of time was wasted in tonight’s episode due to Zach testing positive for COVID. That’s right, sadly, Zach started feeling sick after the group jetted off to London, England for their next destination, and about halfway through the trip he started feeling symptoms. This meant he couldn’t make the group date or his one-on-one with Charity Lawson, something that broke the ladies’ hearts.
Fans had been anticipating watching tonight’s episode after seeing the intense previews, which teased the contestants would be getting bad news. Now, we know that the news is that Zach caught COVID, leaving the ladies feeling like they lost potential quality time with the season’s lead. Though some of the contestants were still feeling pretty confident, others weren’t sure they’d gotten enough time with Zach, leaving them anxious for the next rose ceremony.
Who went home on The Bachelor season 27 episode 5?
Though the contestants couldn’t hang out with Zach in person for the rest of the episode while he was self-isolating in his room, the reality show did set up a virtual cocktail party and virtual rose ceremony! And yes, it was pretty awkward. Here’s who went home this week:
- Kylee Russell
- Mercedes Northup
After the ladies found out Zach tested positive for COVID and Charity’s one-on-one was being postponed, Kaity Biggar headed to Zach’s hotel room with a cute gift basket and talked to him from outside of his door. It was a super cute moment that definitely showed us viewers that the connection they have is real — and strong. Zach also had a one-on-one with Gabi Elnicki at the start of the episode before he got sick, and that went well.
Don’t miss the next episode of The Bachelor season 27 with Week 6 next Monday, February 27 on ABC. Fingers crossed no one else gets COVID for the rest of the season!
