Today’s Bold and the Beautiful recap is going to be a short one as not much happened on the soap for Feb. 21. The central focus of the story was Thomas’ feelings on the custody situation that has put his son Douglas (through the child’s own decision) at the Cliff House with Steffy.
After an unexpected dust up with his sister at her home, Thomas went back to Paris’ apartment to vent with his friend. He’d been surprised when Steffy told him he couldn’t even say hello to his son and check that he’d gotten settled in fine.
He’d assumed that he’d be able to come and go as he pleases from that house while Douglas is living there but Steffy made it very clear that won’t be the case. Thomas, however, isn’t going to just let her keep him from his child, which he let Paris know.
Paris thought Steffy and Finn should have been sympathetic to how Thomas may be feeling. This is, understandably, hard on him but they didn’t really stop to think about his perspective. They were focused on protecting Douglas and setting boundaries even though said boundaries were never set previously.
Thomas got his opportunity to speak on what happened further when he got a call from Taylor summoning him to Steffy’s so they could hash out this argument. She’d arrived at the Cliff House to find Steffy and Finn in a tizzy over their verbal back and forth with Thomas. Finn cited jealousy as the reason behind Thomas’ attitude. It’s his belief that because Steffy is thriving that Thomas is lashing out…which was a leap, to be honest, and not at all what’s been shown.
Bold and the Beautiful recap (Feb. 21)
When Thomas came back over, he received a hug from Taylor and then the four of them got into the meat and potatoes of why they were there. Sinn’s version of events was that Thomas thought he’d be able to just waltz in and see Douglas whenever he wants. And Thomas reiterated that he simply wanted to see his son on his first night at Steffy’s house.
It’s true she made a promise to Hope, but none of this has been handled right. Taylor would like her children to “find the love” and not let this custody struggle get between them. That’s hard for Thomas to accept because he thinks Steffy hasn’t been loyal to him.
She went on a year long parent trap-style quest to get their parents together and told him to do whatever it takes to reunite them and when he did do that, she dropped him, helped kick him out of the company, and now won’t let him see his son. It’s more complicated than that but it’s how he sees things.
Throughout their scenes, Taylor kept reiterating that she wanted Steffy and Thomas to come to some kind of understanding, but short of letting Thomas see Douglas or giving him a day where he can, I don’t see how they’ll resolve this. Thomas even took a petty shot when Steffy said he couldn’t come over unannounced and he pulled out his phone so he could make an appointment with her assistant.
As for Finn, his dislike for Thomas was more than apparent. He’d also like this custody issue to resolve itself quickly. While he’s onboard for taking care of Douglas, giving him and Steffy an insta-family of three kids, the drama around it is exactly what he wanted to avoid.
Across town at the cabin, Hope and Liam caught Brooke up on what’s been happening. It was the same conversation about this whole thing being temporary but also missing Douglas. Liam stated he and Steffy are on the same page about this being a break the boy needs and then he’ll come home. All three of them wondered about how Thomas is handling this all.
Hope knows he’s been fine about it but that’s because he believed it meant he’d have more access to Douglas. Brooke said that was the quite the assumption and we know for certain it was and that’s not how things ended up working out for him. Hope’s keeping the faith that Steffy will protect Douglas like she said she would so for the time being they’re all just waiting for him to change his mind and come back to the cabin.
Until next time, Bold fans. Stay beautiful!
