It’s looking like the fight of the century is upon us folks as the sports drama Creed 3 is set for a nationwide theatrical release date on Friday, March 3. If you haven’t heard the news already, the LA premiere happened on Feb. 27 with the star-studded cast making its way down the carpet. It’s such an exciting time for movies, especially for franchise films such as this one.
The movie stars Micheal B. Jordan who is pulling double duty as the lead Adonis “Donnie” Creed and director of the film while playing opposite Tessa Thompson as Bianca Taylor. Jonathan Majors joins the franchise as Damian “Dame” Anderson, with Wood Harris as Tony “Little Duke” Evers and Phylicia Rashad as Mary Anne Creed reprising their roles from the previous films.
This film will not feature Rocky star Sylvester Stallone coming back to play his role as the legendary character but do know that he is still apart of the Creed 3 producing team.
There’s no question that this is a highly-anticipated movie for Rocky and Creed franchise fans alike, you might ask yourself if it’s appropriate to bring youngsters to the theater to view the film as well. If you’re fighting with the feeling that it may or may not be, we got the answer to that question. Read on below to find out the age rating for the film Creed 3.
Creed 3 movie rating: Why is the movie rated PG-13?
The MPAA gave Creed 3 a “PG-13” rating which means that it features intense sports action, violence and some strong language. Due to the nature of boxing, as well as the dramatized version of fights that are shown in the film, it may not be a movie that children younger than 13 are equipped to see.
If you’re one of those guardians, parents, uncles, and/or aunts who keeps pay-per-view on for the kids to passively watch, the imagery in the film is definitely nothing they haven’t seen before. That being said, if you haven’t seen the first two films in the franchise, Creed and Creed II, then you may not be familiar with the dramatic storyline that prefaces the fights shown within the movie’s runtime so that’s another element to keep in mind.
It’s up to you whether you think your younger theatergoers are ready to see the third installment but it’s always best to be prepared.
