If there’s one character on Bob’s Burgers constantly in the spotlight, it’s Tina Belcher. For the most part, there are usually a couple of Tina-centric episodes in every season.

Season 13 is no exception, either. So far, the only obviously Tina-focused episode was “Cheaty Cheaty Bang Bang.” For the majority of this season, most of the episodes have focused on the family as a whole.

Regardless, we knew that trend wouldn’t last long and with a title like “These Boots Are Made for Stalking,” there is only one character who comes to mind. Well, maybe two but it’s obviously going to focus on Tina.

If you’re not caught up on Bob’s Burgers and haven’t watched “These Boots Are Made for Stalking,” be sure to watch and come back as there will be spoilers from this point on.

Here’s what you missed in the episode, “These Boots Are Made for Stalking”

The episode begins with Tina waiting on some teens and falling down before she tries to run out. We then flashback to a week earlier with Tina writing about these confident and cool teens who keep coming into the restaurant and she wants to be as cool as them. Meanwhile, Louise challenges Gene to wear his gross and sweaty socks from yesterday but Louise wants in after she gets jealous of his sock necktie.

Tina finally gets the courage to go wait on the teens, but she starts choking on her spit but recovers enough to spy on them. She decides to make herself cool so they’ll want to be her friend. She tries out their music and goes thrifting for a new look including some new combat boots that don’t actually fit but the teens don’t come back so she decides to go to the Mud Stains concert to find them.

Sadly, Tina and Linda show up late so they can’t get into the concert. The family goes to get gelato but she’s still sad until they see the teens. Bob follows them for her so she goes into the restaurant after them. The family convinces her to go to the bathroom and run into them but she poses as a waitress until she spills water and coffee all over their table.

It all comes to a head with her freaking out and going into the bathroom so she decides to make a run for it. She ends up tripping in her boots in front of everyone and goes home, clearly upset but Linda explains Tina is actually cool and that she doesn’t need to change herself. She’s still sad about it for a while before eventually feeling better. The episode ends with one of the girls, Sage coming in and talking to Tina who realizes she’s great as she is.

Tina’s boots walk her into learning a lesson on Bob’s Burgers.

When it comes to episodes focused on Tina, Bob’s Burgers tends to focus on her interest yet this time, we watched as Tina tries to change herself. In a way, this feels like one of the most realistic episodes the show has produced yet. While Tina can seem a bit younger or even, older in some episodes, she is still a teenager and we all remember how awkward those days were.

Tina’s trying to figure out things about herself and “These Boots Are Made for Stalking” illustrated that perfectly. She was trying so hard to be cool which resulted in her being even more embarrassed. Regardless, she eventually realized her mistakes and decides to just be herself which worked for her. Honestly, it was such a nice takeaway from the episode.

As far as Tina episodes go, this is one of the better ones. I feel like sometimes the episodes can tend to get a bit weird, but this one focused enough on her being a teen and learning a lesson which is where the show shines. While Bob’s Burgers isn’t exactly known for teaching, it’s a good reminder to those who are teenagers or are raising teenagers.

Regardless, you can’t deny that “These Boots Are Made for Stalking” was a unique one. All I can say is that I hope Bob’s Burgers decides to feature more episodes like this. Then again, you never know with the Belchers.
