The anime community has the honor of having new installments of both Attack on Titan and Demon Slayer this year.
Fans have been fawning over Attack on Titan season 4 part 3 now that the new installment is finally streaming on Crunchyroll. And while they love every second of this new season, some fans can’t help but want to also stream the latest season of Demon Slayer.
Don’t worry! We got you covered as we tell you everything there is to know about Demon Slayer season 3 as well as give you a quick explanation of what to expect from the newly released film that hit theaters on March 3 in the U.S.
Demon Slayer season 3 release date
Regarding the third season of Demon Slayer (also known as The Swordsmith Village Arc), you can expect this installment to come your way on Sunday, Apr. 9. This season will encompass the many episodes we’re used to (at least12 episodes or at most 25), so be sure to make a mental note of the weekly Sunday releases.
Additionally, it is important to note that the April 2023 release date may not include the English-dubbed version of the anime, so if you prefer watching anime this way, you may have to wait a little longer for releases in different languages.
Is Demon Slayer season 3 the same as Demon Slayer: To the Swordsmith Village?
There is a lot of confusion concerning why exactly Demon Slayer: To the Swordsmith Village wasn’t a film with a brand new arc and was, instead, a recap of the first two seasons of the anime as well as a rewatch of season 2 episodes 10-11, and the debut of the season 3 premiere.
As advertised, the 2023 film serves to only refresh your mind on what’s happened so far that way you can be prepared for season three. To that end, season 3 furthers what you’ll see in the movie.
Although the film was mostly recapping Tanjiro’s journey thus far, you won’t have to worry about the third season being the same way. In fact, heading your way soon is an arc with new characters, locations, and, of course, stories!
As per Kimetsu no Yaiba Wiki, here’s the synopsis of the new season:
"Tanjiro journeys to a village of swordsmiths and has to explain how his sword was so badly damaged to Hotaru Haganezuka, the smith who made it. While Tanjiro waits for his sword to be repaired, enemies close in. The Mist Hashira, Muichiro Tokito, engages the demons, but he’ll need some help from Tanjiro and Genya, another Demon Slayer. It’s bad enough that they have to fight two upper-rank demons, but can they handle a foe who can split itself into four separate bodies and regenerate almost instantly?"
And here’s the official teaser trailer, too!
There’s more than enough time between now and Apr. 9 to catch up on Demon Slayer before season 3 drops, so be sure to head to Crunchyroll and Hulu to stream every episode!
