So many awesome shows are really adaptations from an existing story. Is that the case with the Apple TV+ Original? We’ve got the answer for you below!
Is The Last Thing He Told Me on Apple TV+ based on a book?
Yes, The Last Thing He Told Me is based on a book! The novel was published in May 2021 by author Laura Dave. Once it was out in the world, the tale became an instant No. 1 New York Times Bestseller and was on the Best Seller list for almost 15 months. What’s great is that the novelist is very involved in the upcoming series. She co-created it with her screenwriter and executive producer husband Josh Singer!
The upcoming series is centered around Hannah (Garner) who has to make a better relationship with her 16-year-old stepdaughter Bailey (Rice), following her husband Owen’s (Coster-Waldau) mysterious disappearance, per the Apple TV+ synopsis. Check out the trailer below!
According to Goodreads, it seems like the book’s plot is going to take Hannah and Bailey on the same journey. Right before Owen disappears, he sends his wife of one year a note that reads “protect her,” referring to his teen daughter who lost her mom when she was a child. The FBI arrests Owen’s boss and government agents get involved. And this is when Hannah realizes her husband may not be who he said he was. The stepmother and stepdaughter are on a mission to figure out the truth and find the man they both love, and why he really disappeared.
The Last Thing He Told Me premieres with the first two episodes Friday, April 14, 2023 on Apple TV+.
