The Last of Us season 1 finale, “Look for the Light,” promises to be a harrowing wrap-up for the story so far. Ellie fought her way to safety in episode 8, committing more than one murder to ensure she wasn’t killed herself, assaulted, or taken in by a Christian cannibalistic cult run by David, a predator who wanted to “run” his group with her.

In the end, Joel did manage to make it back to his surrogate daughter’s side, but the trauma she’d experienced was plain on her face and in her reaction to him touching her before she’d realized it was him, the man she’s come to see as her guardian.

There are many questions still left to be answered as we head into the finale but we can expect one to play out onscreen and that’s what happened to Ellie’s mother. Curious to know who plays Anna? Fans of the game the series is adapted from are going to be excited by the casting choice.

Who plays Ellie’s mom on The Last of Us?

Anna is played by Ashley Johnson, the voice of Ellie in the Last of Us games. It’s fitting that she’s stepped into the role of the character’s mother in the show in a symbolic passing of the torch to Bella Ramsey’s interpretation of Ellie in the live-action series.

Johnson is also known for her work on Critical Role and the Prime Video original Vox Machina, which is an animated adaptation of the tabletop game play and story from Critical Role. As well as Blindspot, Infinity Train, and Teen Titans Go! Click here for the full list of Johnson’s acting credits.
