On Daisy Jones and The Six, the Prime Video series adapted from the book of the same name by Taylor Jenkins Reid, songwriting is a big part of the narrative.

For the eponymous lead character, Daisy, writing is a means of escape. A way of exploring her feelings and putting them down on the page. It’s a skill she hones over time and it’s not until she’s given the advice by legendary producer Teddy Price to take the listener somewhere in her music that she’s able to see the holes in her work.

This discovery also allows Daisy to understand what’s missing from Billy Dunne’s lyrics. At the time, he was an established musician and the lead singer of The Six, who wasn’t used to push back or unsolicited creative direction, but he does listen to her albeit reluctantly at first. Paired together by Teddy, Daisy and Billy go on to make one of the best rock albums ever produced in their universe.

In the book, the lyrics that are featured throughout Daisy Jones and The Six were written by Reid. However, the series adaptation mainly takes the titles of her songs and their themes, but the lyrics are completely different. Who wrote the songs for the show? Here’s what we know!

Who wrote the songs on Daisy Jones and The Six?

Billboard reports that Grammy Award-winning producer Blake Mills co-wrote and produced the album that would become Aurora in Daisy Jones and The Six along with supplementary songs you can hear in the series.

Among the songwriters who worked with Mills were Phoebe Bridgers, Marcus Mumford, Jackson Browne, and Dawes’ Taylor Goldsmith. Together they came up with the music and lyrics for the 11 songs on the album along with the 14 originals that aren’t on Aurora such as The Six’s pre-Daisy era work, Daisy’s solo songs, and Simone’s tracks.
