Ed Sheeran: The Sum Of It All release date and more

“Perfect,” “Shape of You,” and “Thinking Out Loud.” These songs and a number of others immediately bring one person to mind, and that’s the talented Ed Sheeran! The English singer-songwriter has a new docuseries, Ed Sheeran: The Sum Of It All coming to Disney+.

Today, he’s one of the most known names in the industry, and definitely for good reason! The doc won’t be here until May, but you can expect Sheeran’s new single, “Eyes Closed” to release on Friday, March 24, 2023 from his new album, Subtract. The album will be out Friday, May 5, 2023.

Ed Sheeran: The Sum Of It All release date

The four-part docuseries will premiere Wednesday, May 3, 2023 on Disney+. All of the episodes will stream at once on the platform.

What is Ed Sheeran: The Sum Of It All about?

The production will give viewers and fans an inside look into the star’s private life for the first time as he reflects on the universal themes that inspire his music, per the synopsis. The Sum Of It All follows the singer after he learns of “life changing news,” and shares the challenges and successes during “the most challenging period of his life.” One of the challenges he overcame when he was young was having a stutter as a child.

Get ready to see interviews with Sheeran, his wife Cherry Seaborn, family, and friends. There will also be footage behind some of his most iconic hits, never-before-seen personal archive with friends and family, and video from his stadium performances, Disney+ shares.

Ed Sheeran: The Sum Of It All episodes

Disney+ has provided the four episode titles and what we can expect to see in each installment. Check them out below:

• Episode 1, “Love” – Features footage of Sheeran’s teenage years, how he planned his “unlikely success” and was determined to make it when the music industry ignored him, and the story behind “Perfect” which is written about his wife.
• Episode 2, “Loss” – Features Sheeran’s parents and Cherry, unseen footage from the Divide Tour, and talks about the loss of media entrepreneur Jamal Edwards, who discovered the singer and was his best friend.
• Episode 3, “Focus” – Features Sheeran breaking down how his song “Bad Habits” started, how the star channels his emotions into music, and working to complete his fifth upcoming album, Subtract. However, he may not be dealing with the loss of Edwards as well as he believes. Plus, the Brit reflects on the time he and Eminem performed together which was a childhood dream come true.
• Episode 4, “Balance” – Sheeran and his wife talk about how they balance family and work as it’s difficult when the superstar is touring and away from his wife and kids. The two take a look at all that’s happened in the past year, and have a positive outlook on the future.
