The release of a documentary film with a familiar face is just around the the corner as Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields heads to streaming service Hulu. This film had its first premiere on Jan. 20 with multiple screenings thereafter at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The film is directed by Lana Wilson (Miss Americana, A Cure for Fear). Producers include Christine O’Malley and Jack Turner with Ali Wentworth, Alyssa Mastromonoco, and Good Morning America coanchor George Stephanopoulos taking on executive producing duties through their production company, BedBy8.

Pretty Baby synopsis

This two-part documentary takes its name from the 1978 film Pretty Baby, which Shields starred in which she portrayed a child prostitute. The documentary is centered around the actress and producer recalling being sexually exploited as a child and teen actress and how that has impacted her professional and personal life. Shields also explains how she tried to regain control of her previously sexualized image in the unstable world of entertainment. In the film, you’ll see moments narrated by Shields such as when her mother allowed nude photos of her to be taken for Playboy. She also explains her life post-adolescence by attending college and navigating motherhood and marriage.
