Who plays Jonathan Kent on Superman and Lois?
By Sabrina Reed
Superman and Lois season 3 landed Tuesday, March 14 on The CW. With the new season came a new face for Clark and Lois’ son, Jonathan Kent.
Fans of the series have known the role to be played by Jordan Elsass, however, the actor left the series ahead of the start of the season 3 production for personal reasons. As such, the search for a new Jon began.
Who plays the character now? Here’s what we know!
Who plays Jonathan Kent on Superman and Lois?
The role of Jon is being portrayed by Michael Bishop. This will likely be the actor’s breakout role though he’s also starred in the TV series Grace Beside Me as Teddy and the Disney Channel Original Movie Spin, in which he played Max.
When describing his casting, Superman and Lois star Bitsie Tulloch, referred to it as a “whirlwind.” They’d all arrived back in Vancouver to start filming when they got the news about Elsass’ departure and that the role of Jonathan Kent would be recast.
Tulloch shared that Bishop had flown from Australia to take part in auditions. He even had a return ticket just in case things didn’t work out in his favor, but they did. Bishop was booked for the role in less than a week Tulloch told E! News:
"I’m not kidding, when we had chemistry reads with him—five days later he was on set filming. So, it was fast and he just took it like a champ and we rolled with it. I think people will really like him, he’s a great actor and he’s a lovely person."
Having tuned into Superman and Lois since its season 3 premiere, we can attest to Bishop’s talent. His iteration of Jon fits smoothly with the rest of the show’s characters and, given the storylines the series is set to explore in its third season, he’ll have a lot of material to work with as the Kents face a great challenge together.
