Happy Easter Month to all of my readers. I hope the Easter Bunny brings you all the candy. With a load of movies that come out each month in theaters and streaming platforms, I share with you the seven new April 2023 movies to watch.

There are 14 NEW wide releases hitting theaters in the month of April. Again, that’s just in theaters and doesn’t include limited-release films. Of course, that doesn’t include the number of movies coming to streaming platforms which I would assume is in the hundreds. Because of this, in theatrical releases, going to the movies is pricey (highly recommend AMC or REGAL subscriptions), but I want to narrow down the options for your time and money.

New April 2023 movies to watch

Air – In Theaters – April 5

Air follows the story of Sonny Vaccaro, who led Nike in the pursuit of signing Michael Jordan. The film has a star-studded cast of Matt Damon, Jason Bateman, Viola Davis, and Ben Affleck, who also directed the film. The film has had some excellent reviews over the last few weeks, enhancing my excitement.

Renfield – In Theaters – April 14

Nicholas Cage is playing Dracula, need I say more?

A Tourist’s Guide to Love – Netflix – April 21

Rachel Leigh Cook and Scott Ly star in this romantic comedy about someone going through an unexpected breakup who goes on an assignment to learn about the tourist industry in Vietnam. She finds a little romance and some fun adventure along the journey.

Chevalier – In Theaters – April 21

Kelvin Harrison Jr. stars as Joseph Bologne, who rises to the heights of French society as a composer before he has an affair with someone he shouldn’t. The movie premiered at the 2022 Toronto Film Festival with incredible reviews (it sits at 95% on Rotten Tomatoes), and I’m excited to see Harrison Jr. in the lead role.

Longest Third Date Movie – Netflix – April 21

Matt and Khani met on Hinge, and everything was working out so good for the couple. Then, one day they decided to fly to Costa Rica for their third date and ended up getting stuck as the world shut down in March 2020. I am fascinated by this story because it’s not the typical story of COVID we’ve seen, and I’m intrigued to learn more about these two.

Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant – In Theaters – April 21

Guy Ritchie and Jake Gyllenhaal sound like a match made in heaven. While the story seems like something we have seen before, this combination has intrigued me. On top of that, the trailer is really, really good.

Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret – In Theaters – April 28

Judy Blume first published the book Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret, in 1970. Finally, writer Kelly Fremon Craig (The Edge of Seventeen) has adapted the book into a film that she is always directing. The film stars Rachel McAdams, Kathy Bates, and Abby Ryder Forston as Margaret. This is not only one of my most anticipated movies of April but the year. I will be seated on opening weekend.
