New comedy The Big Door Prize on Apple TV+ is based on the novel of the same name by author M.O. Walsh. In the book, a mysterious machine pops up in the local grocery store of a small town. With a swab of your cheek and only $2, the seemingly advanced technology tells you your life’s potential, per the novel synopsis. So how closely will the show follow what’s on the page?

We’ll find out soon when the comedy premieres on the streaming service! Though we have an idea thanks to the project’s synopsis. The story takes place in Deerfield, where small town family man and high school teacher Dusty Hubbard lives with his wife Cass and daughter. He’s skeptical about the mysterious machine that appears in town, the Morpho machine. But in the trailer, it seems like he might also be tempted to try it. Residents start changing careers and making big life choices, all in the “pursuit of a better future.”
