April 1 is tomorrow, and so we all have to be careful because that means April Fools’ Day! There can be lots of jokes and teases that aren’t real just to celebrate the funny day. Sometimes, media companies like advertisers and movie and show production giants get in on it too. So what’s the deal with the supposed series Love Language on Peacock in collaboration with Duolingo?

According to the streaming service, 10 of the “hottest singles in the world” have to live in a house together in paradise in the hopes of finding their true love. But the one barrier that’s going to be between them is language. None of them speak the same one.

The competition makes the contestants learn “a new tongue in more ways than one,” as they practice on the app daily to try and find their perfect match by the end of an episode. If they don’t, the show’s “merciless judge,” Duo the Owl, will eliminate them. In the end, one couple will win and prove they truly know each other’s love language.

Those who have seen the trailer (watch it below!) may recognize a familiar face. Reality star Francesca Farago has been in three other Netflix dating shows including Love Is Blind, Too Hot to Handle, and Perfect Match. Other cast members include Lukas who is German, Jia who speaks Mandarin Chinese, Jerome who is from France, and Ronaldo who speaks Spanish.

So what’s the deal with this series? Is it legit? We’ve got the answer for you below!

Is Love Language on Peacock a real dating show?

Love Language, which is supposedly a production created by Peacock and Duolingo, is not a real show. This was purely an April Fools’ joke. And to be honest, it’s definitely a great one! Though the series isn’t real, the two companies have partnered up to make some special offers. So this was a great way to help them promote that.

Peacock Premium (with ads) usually costs $4.99/month. But if you sign up anytime before April 19, 2023, you can get the subscription for 50% off for three months. That means you’ll pay a one-time payment of $7.49 to stream Peacock’s catalog for the next three months.

At Duolingo, the language learning app is offering a one month free trial to its Super Duolingo premium addition. This allows you to experience the app without ads, unlimited hearts and attempts at Legendary challenges, and provides a mistakes review. This usually goes for $12.99.

Love Language isn’t a real series, but honestly the premise isn’t that bad. I’d watch it. And I’m sure you reality dating show fans would too. It could make for a very interesting show indeed!
