What is upcoming horror film Evil Dead Rise about?

The Evil Dead franchise is getting another movie added to its lineup! Warner Bros. Pictures is giving upcoming film Evil Dead Rise a theatrical release on Friday, April 21, 2023. Are you ready for more of this iconic horror franchise? We sure are!

The production was originally supposed to just be digitally released on HBO Max, but the company has now decided to give the project the big screen treatment. It’s not known yet whether the film will be released on the streaming service at a later date. But we’ll be sure to keep you up to date on that info!

The movie stars Alyssa Sutherland as Ellie and Lily Sullivan as Beth. Joining the two actresses onscreen are Gabrielle Echols as Bridget, Morgan Davies as Danny, Nell Fisher as Kassie, Jayden Daniesl as Gabriel, Tai Wano as Scott, Billy Reynolds-McCarthy as Jake, and Mia Challis.

According to Collider, franchise star Bruce Campbell, who plays main character Ash Williams in the films and show, only serves as a producer on the sequel, with director Lee Cronin taking charge behind the camera. Though in Evil Dead Rise, you can expect a very small cameo in the form of Campbell voicing a priest on a record that’s being played back, the news outlet shares.

The very first film in the franchise, The Evil Dead, was released in 1981, followed by Evil Dead II in 1987, Army of Darkness in 1992, Evil Dead in 2013, and television series Ash vs Evil Dead which aired from 2015 to 2018 for three seasons.
