Guys, we are definitely not in Kansas anymore! The upcoming horror, Gale — Stay Away From Oz, is a different and unique take on the iconic film The Wizard of Oz. Classic stories reimagined as horror movies are always fun to watch. You never know in which direction the spin-off will go. If this is your first time hearing about this movie, or you’d like more details, you’ve come to the right place.

In the original, we see a young Dorothy finds herself lost in the magical land of Oz. There, Dorothy meets the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and a Cowardly Lion who join Dorothy on her journey to find the Wizard of Oz, hoping the Wizard will grant them each a wish, Dorothy’s wish being to go back home.

Daniel Alexander will be serving as the director of the upcoming indie horror. Alexander is known for various shorts, including Left Behind, A Past Tense, and Corrupt. On Alexander’s YouTube page, he teases that the movie is coming “in 2023,” but doesn’t offer a release date.

Gale — Stay Away From Oz synopsis

What is the movie about? Gale — Stay Away From Oz follows Dorothy, but this time, she is an elderly, traumatized woman (and who can blame her, right?). The horror flick will focus on Dorothy’s granddaughter, Emily, after she is pulled into the same land from her grandmother’s dark past. And let’s just say, there are no yellow brick roads in this one! Check out the trailer to the movie, below:
