Is Hill Harper leaving The Good Doctor? (Will the actor be in Season 7?)
There have been a lot of questions about whether some characters will return in The Good Doctor Season 7. Will Dr. Andrews scrub back in?
Not everyone makes it back for new seasons of top TV shows. Sometimes, that’s just the way the character storylines were developed. In other cases, the exits come due to actors wanting to move on or problems behind the scenes.
There have been a lot of questions about whether Hill Harper would return for The Good Doctor Season 7. And this was going to be his choice. TVLine reported earlier this year that he was eying a run for the senate, and there are simply only so many hours in the day that filming the medical drama in Vancouver was probably going to be a little tricky.
Is Dr. Andrews leaving in The Good Doctor Season 7?
So, what have the writers decided? It seems that Andrews’s story is open for Harper to return if he can.
Dr. Andrews looked to be on the verge of being fired in the finale. The negotiations with the nurses were complicated by his relationship with a nurse. In the end, he decided that his love life was more important than his career. He chose to resign.
This doesn’t really mean that he needs to leave the hospital completely. He’s resigned as CEO. He could end up sticking around as a doctor. We have seen TV shows where the chief or CEO has resigned but stuck around. Look at Bell on The Resident and Webber on Grey’s Anatomy. It’s clear that the writers are arguably left this open until it’s clear what Harper is going to do with his political career.
With the writers strike in effect, it could help to solidify Harper’s decision to go into politics. It would be very easy to write him out of the series off-screen should that need to happen at a later date.
The Good Doctor is available to stream on Hulu.
