Will Trent season 2 release updates and more

Will Trent just wrapped up its successful first season on ABC and fans are happy it’s gotten a renewal for season 2. The question now is what will happen and when does season 2 come out on ABC?

The Will Trent season 1 finale was a wild one as Will and the team had to race to find a kidnapped Angie. After various red herrings, Will figured out the serial killer was lawyer James Ulster. He found Ulster, who had brutally beaten Angie. Will beat Ulster himself but simply arrested him, with Ulster trying to avoid jail by poisoning himself.

In the aftermath, Ulster was in the hospital with the team worried that Angie was now paralyzed. Meanwhile, Will learned that his boss Amanda was the one who found him as an infant when his mother died in childbirth. Unable to adopt Will herself, Amanda gave him his name and then gave him up, thinking Will would be put in a good home rather than the foster care system.

That was a good finale to wrap up the strong first season, with fans now eager to learn more about season 2.

When does Will Trent Season 2 come out?

So far, ABC has yet to announce their fall schedule, so it’s unclear if Will Trent will return in the fall or if the network holds it for midseason. A wrinkle is the current Writers Guild of America strike which has curtailed production on several shows. If the strike goes on for a while, then it’s possible that Will Trent may not be able to make a fall date, making it further unclear if the show makes its return in September or next January.

How many episodes will be in Will Trent Season 2?

Again, the release date is key to how many episodes Will Trent will have. Season 1 was 13 episodes due to premiering in January. If the show comes out in September, it could have the standard 20 or 22 of other ABC shows. However, the aforementioned WGA strike could be a factor in fewer episodes, making it uncertain for now how long Will Trent season 2 will be.

Will Trent season 2 cast

It seems safe to assume the entire cast will return for season 2 with stars Ramon Rodriguez, Erika Christensen, Iantha Richardson, Sonja Sohn and Jake McLaughlin. It’s possible the show could add another face or two, as it’s likely Angie will be out of commission at the start of season 2, so Omerwood might be getting a new partner. As of now, Will Trent fans can at least enjoy a break over the summer before the quirky crime solver is back on the case for a new year.
