After the UK’s longest-serving monarch Queen Elizabeth II passed away in Sept. 2022, Brits welcomed her son, Charles III, to the throne. Though he’s served as the King of England since Elizabeth’s death, he’s now going to be officially crowned during his coronation ceremony alongside his wife and Queen Consort, Camilla. It’ll be a huge day for the UK on Saturday, May 6, and if you’re interested in checking out all the happenings, we have good news. It’ll be televised!

Charles III and Camilla will be crowned the King and Queen of the UK at Westminster Abbey, London. And in addition to this, the ceremony will feature musical performances and we can expect to see famous faces attending, from British royal family members to popular celebrities.

If you’re living in the UK and want to catch the big weekend, BBC News has already started their pre-event coverage, and you can watch the ceremony on May 6 through the channels BBC One, BBC Two, and BBC iPlayer. The service officially begins at 11:00 a.m. local time this Sunday. So what does that mean for viewers in the United States and beyond?

Early coverage of the Coronation will begin on the BBC at 7:30 a.m. local time, which is 2:30 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on Saturday morning / 11:30 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on Friday night. The official service starts at 11:00 a.m. local time, which is 6:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on Saturday morning / 3:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time on Saturday morning.

That means if you’re planning to watch the Coronation in the United States, you’ll either be staying up all night or waking up early!

For viewers in the U.S., you can watch the Coronation on CNN. The network will be airing pre-ceremony coverage starting at 5:00 a.m. ET. If you don’t have access to the CNN channel, don’t worry because the event will be also streamed on the CNN website for free.
