The Bold and the Beautiful recap (May 11): Thope fly to San Francisco together

Thomas and Hope jetsetted today on The Bold and the Beautiful but, before any Thope fans get too excited, it was for a business trip in San Francisco. Apparently there are buyers in town anxious to get a look at the line and this is just the kind of buzz that the Hope for the Future brand needs right now as Hope and Thomas dig HFTF out of the hole it’d fallen into when the latter had been fired for a non-work related matter.

When Carter told Hope about the opportunity, she leaped at the chance to get the new collection in front of tastemakers who could further the narrative that her line is making a comeback. The two pitched Thomas on the idea and, of course, he was ready and willing to hop in the Forrester jet with very little notice. If it means HFTF getting the due it deserves, Thomas will do what needs to be done. After all, the brand has now become his baby, too, as he and Hope have become inseparable when it comes to their work together and the designs being presented.

Liam, however, was not excited about this news at least in terms of Thomas going on the trip. He’d just come from a humorous encounter with Steffy and Finn in the main office which saw him walking in on them while they were kissing. That interaction smoothly transitioned into yet another talk about Liam’s discomfort with Thope’s working relationship after Steffy handed him Kelly’s backpack which also contained her sparkly shoelaces that are all the rage right now.

What happened on The Bold and the Beautiful today?

Interestingly, Finn seems a bit bemused by Liam’s concern. He believes Thomas is doing the work to be a better man and father. And, while he’s not shooting Liam down about his desire to protect his wife, his facial expressions give away that he thinks Liam is making something out of nothing. For her part, Steffy was exasperated but also clearly struggling with the knowledge she’s been holding onto since she suspects there’s more going on with Hope and her feelings for Thomas than meets the eye.

Steffy’s not worried about her brother crossing the line. She’s worried that Hope is going to disrupt the progress he’s made. We’ll have to see if that ends up being the case. Liam tried to take it in stride that Thope would be running off on a trip together, but it was hard for him. Thomas dismissed himself after Liam walked in on him asking Hope what she thought her husband would have to say about their trip.

This gave Hope the opportunity to once again soothe Liam. He’s aware that this is strictly business, but he’s not thrilled that Thomas is the one going with her. What’s helping him accept it is that it’s not an overnighter. Carter assured both Thomas and Hope that they’d be back in time to say goodnight to their kids, but it did have a ring of “famous last words.” Just saying!

Anyway, Hope and Thomas reached the jet and prepared to head off to San Francisco. Thomas couldn’t help but ask Hope about her conversation. She didn’t really rehash what she’d said to Liam but did express that Liam’s aware that she’s committed to him and their family. Thomas agreed because she’s not that kind of person, she’s not like Brooke (which is a refrain everyone seems to be using lately), and she wouldn’t cross a line.

Hope didn’t look so sure. Liam, however, is certain he can trust her. He told Sinn, who couldn’t seem to get some alone time in the main office without being interrupted, that he’s lucky to have a wife like Hope because she’s so loyal and honest. Could the soap be setting Hope up for a fall from grace? It’s quite possible.
