Will The Winchesters be saved? (Can Supernatural fans save the prequel?)

The Supernatural prequel has come to an end after one season. Can fans rally together to save The Winchesters from its fate?

If we know one thing about the world of Supernatural, it’s that the dead doesn’t stay dead. That means a TV show that’s been canceled doesn’t have to end. The CW may have decided not to renew the series, but it is already being shopped around. And there is hope that it will find a new home.

To be honest, if you’d have told me last year that I would have enjoyed The Winchesters as much as I did, I’d have laughed at you. I was busy trying to figure out how it fit into Supernatural canon, and then my one and only real theory panned out. The season finale did work as a series finale, but I’m not ready to see the series come to an end.

Could Supernatural fans save The Winchesters?

So, the fight is on. This is going to take a lot of noise to get the series saved.

I do have some doubts purely based on a few other fan campaigns that I’ve seen. I remember back when Charmed ended and there was the fight to get The Charmed Sons picked up. That turned into nothing. Then there was a fight for the Supernatural spin-off Wayward Sisters after it wasn’t picked up to series a couple of years ago. Again, it turned into nothing.

But both of those ideas were based on one episode in their respective shows. The Winchesters had 13 episodes of story, someone from Supernatural heavily involved in it, and in the end, the fan support. How many people watched the finale and said “Okay, Jensen, we should have trusted you?” Deadline reports that the series is being “aggressively” shopped, so let’s not give up hope just yet.

Now it’s all about which home it could find. There are two that mostly come to mind: Netflix and HBO Max. Netflix because it has Supernatural right now and it does have a good base to save the show. HBO Max because this series is a Warner Bros. production, so the Warner Bros. streamer makes the most sense. Max is also where the series currently streams, so it makes sense to keep everything there.
