Make sure to mark your calendars for May 26 to catch the theatrical premiere of action comedy The Machine. The Machine stars comedian Burt Kreischer as a fictionalized version of himself. The film’s storyline takes place twenty years after a drunken adventure in Russia when a crime family comes after Kreischer to take back what he stole from them. The film also stars Mark Hamill as Albert Kreischer, Burt’s father, Martyn Ford as Sponge, and Jimmy Tatro as Young Bert.

Kreischer’s true story stand-up routine found in his 2016 Showtime comedy special of the same name, became a viral success, raking up over 52 million views on YouTube. This resulted in production company Legendary Entertainment acquiring the rights to develop and adapt it into a feature film adaptation.

The Machine is produced by Legendary Pictures alongside Uh Hundred Percent Productions and Levity Productions. Screen Gems secured the distribution rights to the film. The film is directed by
Peter Atencio from a script written by Kevin Biegel and Scotty Landes.

If you’re a die-hard fan of Kreischer or are interested in the story, you may also be wondering if this film is appropriate for young viewers? Read on to find out why the movie was given this rating!

The Machine age rating: Why is the movie rated R?

According to the MPAA, The Machine has been given an ‘R’ rating. This is due to the inclusion of strong violence, pervasive language, drug use and some sexual references.

For those who are familiar with Krieischer’s stand up, he does not stray away from using profanities and off-color jokes. Since it is based off of Krieischer’s life, the film will not be without the similar elements found in the work that has made him the known comic that he is today.

Children under the age of 17 aren’t allowed to attend these movies unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian so if you want to bring your kids to see this, be prepared to answer some questions at the end of the movie.
