Are the original Little Mermaid songs in The Little Mermaid 2023?

The original The Little Mermaid is considered a classic for its storytelling as well as the songs that play throughout. The tale of a teenage mermaid princess yearning to experience life on land, and who falls in love with a human prince after rescuing him from a storm, has been a staple of households since the animated film premiered in 1989. 34 years later and Ariel’s story continues to capture the imagination of children and the hearts of adults as well.

2023, however, will see a new live-action adaptation of the movie swimming onto the big screen with a whole new star-studded cast ready to bring the same kind of wonder to the eyes of its audience. The reviews are in and there’s been much praise for Halle Bailey’s performance as Ariel, for both her portrayal and her ethereal singing voice which has left many misty eyed as they listen to her rendition of “Part of Your World.”

The iconic song speaks to the heart of what the movie is about, and it’s one that fans have been singing for decades. It’s impossible to imagine an adaptation of The Little Mermaid without a version of Ariel’s lamenting, heartfelt solo. Are the original Little Mermaid songs in the live-action remake?

Yes, the 2023 movie does have the majority of songs that most are familiar with when it comes to Ariel’s film. However, the songs “Daughters of Triton” and “Les Poissons” are not a part of the remake. There are also additional original songs like “Wild Uncharted Waters” sung by Prince Eric, “For the First Time” which is a new song for Ariel, and “The Scuttlebutt” sung by Scuttle and Sebastian.
