Citadel has made its premiere on Prime Video with the first two episodes of its freshman run. The season opener, “The Human Enigma,” introduces us to Nadia Sinh and Mason Kane, two spies for the titular agency who are highly skilled operatives and on-and-off again lovers ( they’re perhaps even married or were).

Their mission on the train seems, at first, to be going in their favor and then it takes a sharp left as Manticore, Citadel’s antithesis, reveals their plan to rid the world of the organization Nadia and Mason work for. In the process, Nadia and Mason lose their memories and then spend eight years building separate lives unaware that the other exists and completely clueless about their previous occupations. Mason even marries and has a child, complicating his situation when his former colleague Bernard Orlick drops in on him and pulls Mason and his family into the chaotic aftermath of what Manticore did nearly a decade prior.

This action spy thriller is sure to leave viewers with some questions each episode as it expands on its twisting, mysterious plot. Hidden Remote will be keeping track of the story as it streams. Check back with this post each Friday for updates!

What is Citadel?

They are loyal to no man and no nation. Agents a part of this organization consider themselves to be loyal only to the safety and security of all people. They’ve helped shape every major event over the past 100 years for the good of humanity.

What is Manticore?

An organization that considers themselves to be “the truth.” They were founded by eight of the wealthiest families in the world. Their mission is to manipulate world events in order to amass more wealth and power.

What’s in the Citadel X-case?

Secrets that could hold a nation hostage and wreak havoc across the globe as well as the codes for all the nuclear weapons in the world.

How did Nadia survive the train explosion?

Based on the ending of “The Human Enigma,” she swam to shore after getting free of the wreckage. The full story of how she survived is revealed in episode 2, “Spies Appear in Night Time.”
