Nancy Drew season 4 ending explained: Answering the big questions of the final season
By Sabrina Reed
Updated: June 14, 2023 – Nancy Drew season 4 is finally here. Fans have been waiting over a year for the show’s next installment and found out it would be its last whilst the fourth season was in production. So, it’s an exciting but also bittersweet time as we all settle in to see where the writers will take us in this last adventure with the Drew Crew.
We’re rejoining the series after a finale that saw both Nancy and Ace be put under a curse that ended their budding romance before it could even begin. Said curse is going to be a central part of the plot as we expect the whole gang to get involved once Nancy shares this key piece of information. After all, if she and Ace ever do act on their feelings, he will lose his life. The stakes are quite high.
There’s also empty graves in Horseshoe Bay’s cemetery to contend with as Nancy was left gobsmacked by the sheer number of them with no signs of what exactly caused the corpses to go missing. When we pick back up with everyone in the season 4 premiere, “The Dilemma of the Lover’s Curse,” you’ll see that there’s more to this case than one might think.
Join Hidden Remote as we unravel the mysteries of this final season and answer questions the episodes may have left you with. Each week we’ll be updating this post, so bookmark it and come back to keep abreast of what’s happened through this finale run.
Nancy Drew season 4 episode 1 ending explained: “The Dilemma of the Lover’s Curse”
How long has it been since the season 3 finale?
The season 4 premiere picks up five weeks after Nancy got the mysterious phone call to go to the cemetery where she found an uncomfortable amount of empty graves.
Are Bess and Addy still together?
Yes. They’re relationship is thriving.
Are George and Nick still broken up?
Yes. The two have parted ways romantically, but they do have a talk in the premiere about Nick pawning George’s engagement ring. It’s closure for them both as Nick explains why he did it, which was to pay for work done at the youth center, and George tells him how she felt about seeing the ring. It felt final and there was a part of her that hoped that he’d hold onto the ring and one day he might ask her again. But, she wants him to be happy and encourages him to date.
Why are Nancy and Ace not speaking?
It’s been weird between them since he put his heart on the line, and she told him that she’s only interested in their friendship. When they do speak, after over a month of being absent from each other’s lives, it’s awkward but they both want to try to maintain their platonic relationship (despite clear yearning from both of them).
Why was Ace arrested?
The police found an arm belonging to one of the corpses in his backyard. Ace was later released on bail and likely the charges have been dropped since the Sheriff was present for the reveal of what happened to the missing bodies.
What happened to the bodies in the cemetery?
They rose out of their graves themselves. Yes, it seems that does mean that we have a case of some kind of zombie behavior. They’re all following a pattern that leads them to Geiger Clearing where they regurgitate black ooze before falling into a pile of bones. Said ooze moved toward the town’s water supply when the Drew Crew were no longer in the vicinity.
Who is Tristan Glass?
At the start of the episode, the audience learns he’s a fisherman who works down at the docks. He’s the supplier of seafood to The Claw and hill toppers looking for a premium catch. It’s not until the closing scene that we, and Nancy, learn that he’s the son of Jonas and Shelby Glass, the supernatural antiquities collectors who’d like an in at the Horseshoe Bay Historical Society.
Does Ace find out about the curse?
Yes. He confronts Nancy at Icarus Hall after he sees that she wrote his name down and stuck it in a bottle during the Lover’s Vigil. The gesture symbolizes that she’d like to reunite with him in the afterlife as he is her true love. This prompts him to tell her he knows she feels what he does, and he’s noticed that any time they get too close, glass breaks. When he asks her what’s going on, Nancy finally tells him that they’re cursed.
