Surprising Marvel cameos in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
By Sandy C.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is now playing in select theaters, and will be available everywhere on Friday, June 2. If you plan on watching the movie this weekend, prepare for some very exciting cameos! That said, there are spoilers ahead if you are still waiting to jump into the web! If you already caught a showing of the movie, let’s break down our favorite cameos from Across the Spider-Verse.
Spoiler alert! Once again, there are cameo spoilers for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. We won’t be diving into any major spoilers or story reveals, but why ruin the experience? Go watch the movie and then return here to chat.
Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) and Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) are back! It has been a little over a year since Into the Spider-Verse. Miles has been doing an amazing job as the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. He is still driving his parents crazy as they don’t know he is New York’s hero. When Gwen visit Miles, he is over the moon. Gwen introduces Mile to Miguel O’Hara (Oscar Isaac) and the Spider-Society. And, things get interesting, to say the least.
Final spoiler alert!
Is Venom (Tom Hardy) in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse?
Not exactly, but we do travel to Eddie Brock’s (Tom Hardy) universe and see the villain Spot have a quick chat with Mrs. Chen, the convenience store owner and Eddie’s friend. Though we don’t see Hardy, it was very cool of the movie to acknowledge this world.
Is Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in Across the Spider-Verse?
No. Tom Holland doesn’t pop up in this movie, and we kept an eye on him the most. It would have been a lot of fun to see. However, two other Spidey favorites did make the cut…
Is Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man in Across the Spider-Verse?
Yes! Not in the way we were hoping, but we still appreciate the quick glimpse of Garfield’s Peter Parker. We see him with a dying Captain Stacy after Lizard’s attack that happens in The Amazing Spider-Man.
Is Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man in Across the Spider-Verse?
Yes! It was lovely to see Maguire’s Peter Parker, even if it was, like Garfield’s, a quick shot from his movie. This Peter is seen crying over Uncle Ben’s death from his movie.
Is the Prowler (Donald Glover) in Across the Spider-Verse?
Yes! And this is my favorite cameo because it actually is a cameo and not only a scene from another movie. Glover appears as Miles’ uncle Aaron in Spider-Man: Homecoming, so it’s nice to see him again here.
