The Expendables are back for another wild ride. Nearly a decade after the third film in the action movie series, Expendables 4 (stylized as Expend4bles) is coming this year. Here’s what to know!

The first The Expendables film in 2010 was a huge hit thanks to its dream team of action movie stars coming together. Two sequels followed, but after The Expendables 3 underperformed in 2014, there was a long delay for a new film. It’s finally coming together under director Scott Waugh with the plotline being this team of freelance mercenaries trying to stop a conflict that could erupt into World War III.

What is The Expendables 4 about?

The official synopsis:

"A new generation of stars join the world’s top action stars for an adrenaline-fueled adventure in The Expendables 4. Reuniting as the team of elite mercenaries, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, and Sylvester Stallone are joined for the first time by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Megan Fox, Tony Jaa, Iko Iwais, Jacob Scipio, Levy Tran, and Andy García.Armed with every weapon they can get their hands on and the skills to use them, The Expendables are the world’s last line of defense and the team that gets called when all other options are off the table. But new team members with new styles and tactics are going to give “new blood” a whole new meaning."

The Expendables 4 cast

The cast is a mix of older stars and some fresh faces. Returning are Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Randy Couture, and Dolph Lundgren. Notable, Stallone has stated this will be his final appearance as team leader Barney Ross, and it’s indicated Statham may take more of the lead this time around.

Joining them is Megan Fox as a CIA officer and Staham’s ex-girlfriend, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Jacob Scipio, and Levy Tran as new team members. Iko Uwais is the lead villain, with martial arts star Tony Jaa as his henchman.

The Expendables 4 release date

The film is set to debut on Friday, Sept. 22, 2023. There’s no word yet on any streaming options. However, the fantastic trailer showcases the wild action coming and that The Expendables is hoping to get back on track as a top action movie franchise.
