Does Red, White and Royal Blue have a happy ending?

Much like the book that inspired the movie, Prime Video’s Red, White and Royal Blue does indeed have a happy ending! That’s right, despite all that life throws their way in the movie, Alex and Henry do end up together at the end of the movie and get their happy ending!

Throughout the movie, Alex and Henry navigate their complex relationship, dealing with personal and political challenges, as well as the scrutiny of the public eye. Despite facing obstacles and doubts, their love deepens and they eventually manage to overcome the hurdles that stand in their way.

After navigating a political scandal that nearly tears them apart when they’re both outed to the public following the leaking of their personal emails, the pair prove to indeed be forever and make it out stronger on the other side. In the end, societal expectations, political pressures, and personal doubts all lose out as Alex and Henry’s love ultimately triumph over all the obstacles thrown their way across the movie.

During the movie’s final act, Alex’s mom wins her reelection campaign thanks to all of the work Alex did in their home state of Texas during the election. After the win, Alex takes Henry to his childhood home in Texas and the couple exchange “we won” messages to one another, a message that in a sense serves as a double meaning. One which can be interpreted to Alex’s mom winning the election, but more importantly them winning their happily ever after now that they’re out and can embrace their love publicly.

It’s an ending that was perfect for the movie, and most definitely leaves the door open should Amazon look to make a sequel!
