The FBI franchise began in 2018 with the flagship series. Since then, it’s grown and created two spin-off shows, which have contributed to the franchise’s success on the network. Those are FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International. The trio have taken over Tuesday nights on CBS. But unfortunately, they’re not going to in 2023. What’s the case with FBI: International season 3?

The crime series was renewed for both a second and third season back in May 2022. So we’ve known for a while now that the third chapter in the story is happening. Unfortunately, we’re not getting more this year. Why is that the case? We’ve got the answer for you below.

Why isn’t FBI: International season 3 coming to CBS in 2023?

FBI: International season 3 is not coming to CBS in 2023 because of the two union strikes affecting Hollywood. Those are the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA).

The WGA is the union representing television and movie writers. The writers strike has been going on since May 2, 2023. SAG-AFTRA is the union who represents almost all of our favorite actors. The actors strike began on July 14, 2023. Since both unions are on strike, that means no writers or actors are working. Which means no scripts or filming is being done.

When is FBI: International season 3 coming out?

Right now FBI: International season 3 still does not have a premiere date. Back in May, CBS released its initial fall 2023 television schedule. The crime drama was set to return on Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. ET. However after the strikes, the company had to come up with a revised schedule. The new schedule removed basically all of the planned new seasons for scripted shows and now it’s full of reality, reruns, and even the debut of Yellowstone on CBS.

On Aug. 18, 2023 Deadline shared that the WGA and AMPTP, who represents the big studios, plan to meet this week to discuss proposals and new contracts. So far the studios have been saying a midseason premiere could be possible, which means sometime in January-March 2024. We’ll have to wait and see if this will actually happen or a further delay is in store.
