Young Sheldon season 7 is not coming to CBS in September 2023
Fall time means new seasons for broadcast shows, including on CBS. And that’s especially true for Young Sheldon. But unfortunately, we’re not going to see the young genius and the Cooper family back this fall. Young Sheldon season 7 is not coming to CBS in September 2023. So why the delay and when is the series going to return?
The season 6 finale ended on an emotional note when a tornado hit Medford, Texas. Mandy and George are driving as the tornado passes them, but they end up safe. But poor Meemaw is going to have to find a new home as her house got destroyed. Elsewhere, Sheldon and Mary still don’t know what happened to their family as they were on a place off to Germany for a prestigious summer program for Sheldon.
We’re definitely excited to see what comes next, but unfortunately it’s not happening in September. Why is that the case? When will we see new episodes? We’ve got the answer for you below.
Why isn’t Young Sheldon season 7 coming to CBS in fall 2023?
Young Sheldon season 7 isn’t coming back to CBS in fall 2023 because of the writers strike and actors strike. In May 2023, the writers union went on strike which means no writers could work on scripts. Then in July 2023, the actors also went on strike which means productions had to shut down. No filming could happen.
Even if scripts are finished, sometimes they are tweaked or changed during filming, which is why it’s important to have the writers available while the cameras are rolling. It’s not 100% clear where in the process production of Young Sheldon was before the lights went out during the strikes. As of Aug. 29, 2023, both unions remain on strike and have not been able to negotiate a new deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), who represents the big studios.
When is Young Sheldon season 7 coming out?
Because of the strikes and not knowing when they will end, we still don’t know when Young Sheldon season 7 is coming out. The series won’t even be making a return in 2023. We’re going to have to wait until next year in 2024 to see the new season. Initially, the sitcom was on the CBS fall 2023 television schedule. But of course when the strikes happened, the network had to adjust and release a revised schedule. The big studios are hoping for these delayed shows to return in the midseason schedule, which would be sometime in January-March 2024. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.
