Fast X is now on Peacock after its run in theaters. But, does the latest installment of the hit franchise manage to fit in an appearance by Brian O’Connor?

Caution: This article has SPOILERS for Fast X

The Fast and the Furious tells the story of Brian O’Connor (Paul Walker) befriending racer Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel). It was revealed Brian was a cop going undercover to bust Dom and his gang, but the pair ended up becoming friends.

Walker would reprise the role in 2 Fast 2 Furious, although he bowed out of the third film. Fast and Furious reunited the cast, with Brian continuing to help Dom and marry his sister, Mia (Jordanna Brewster).

Tragically, on Nov. 30, 2013, Walker was killed in a freak car accident. He had just finished filming Furious 7, with the movie’s finale paying tribute to him by having Brian and Dom race and go on separate paths.

Fate of the Furious and Fast 9 both stated that Brian was alive but now out of the crime/racing game, content to raise his child with Mia. So, does he somehow pop up in Fast X?

Is Brian in Fast X?

The only mention of Brian is when Mia is worried he’s been targeted by villain Dante, only for Dom’s brother Jakob (John Cena) to assure her that Brian is safe.

It appears the producers just don’t have the heart to kill off Brian because of how much Walker meant to the cast and the fans. Recasting the role would also be a hard task, even if it’s bending credibility (even for this franchise) to keep saying Brian isn’t involved in adventures, putting his family and friends in danger.

For now, it looks like Brian is going to continue to remain “off stage” for the Fast adventures, as a way to honor Walker’s memory.
