We knew 911: Lone Star season 5 wouldn’t be coming this fall, but the latest update from FOX is even more disappointing than we ever could have predicted.

During a new interview with Deadline, FOX’s President of Entertainment Michael Thorn did not mince words when making it very clear there is a very real chance scripted shows such as 911: Lone Star might not be coming in the spring if the strike is not resolved soon.

According to Thorn, if the strikes are not resolved by Oct. 1 there is a strong chance FOX might not be able to bring fans new seasons of scripted shows until the fall of 2024.

"“You’re going get to a point in the fall in the late fall, where it’s going to be very hard to launch within the traditional TV viewing season. If that means the show could work and succeed in the summer, great. If it’s better to wait for the fall and use football and sports… we’ll do that. You could use October 1 as the date. Every show is different but sometimes when you’re staring at a May launch date, you always wonder is that the best time.”"

With October less than two weeks away, the clock is ticking and it’s become a very real reality that we could be in for an extremely long way for the next season of 911: Lone Star.

When could 911: Lone Star season 5 premiere?

According to FOX’s President of Entertainment Michael Thorn, a returning such as 911: Lone Star could be up and running in two months’ time once the strikes end. This means that if the strikes are resolved by Oct. 1, there is a chance production can begin in time for 911: Lone Star to arrive sometime in the spring at midseason. However, if the strike goes beyond Oct. 1 there is a strong chance we might not see season 5 arrive until Fall 2024.

While FOX is likely hoping to do everything it can to bring back scripted shows like 911: Lone Star as part of its midseason lineup, if the strikes are not resolved in time for production to begin before the end of the year, there is a very real chance the network will have no choice but to delay the show’s return to next fall.

As Thorn noted when speaking about the strike timeline, each show will be different but given 911: Lone Star is one of FOX’s flagship shows it seems unlikely the show would be shifted to the summer.
