Out of all of the talented actors from the UK getting their start in Hollywood in the early 2000s, Robert Pattinson and Jamie Dornan might be two of the most famous. The two celebs appeared in minor roles until their eventual big breaks, both starring in major franchises that were critically panned but also financial successes. Of course, we’re talking about the 50 Shades of Grey series for Dornan and Twilight for Pattinson. Whether they knew it or not signing onto them, those films would change their lives forever.

In the years since, Pattinson has starred in a long list of indie movies while more recently going back to his blockbuster roots, playing the titular character in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. For Dornan, his career might be a bit quieter in comparison, but he’s still continued to scoop up impressive roles in movies and TV.

But when the two were still just starting out, it looks like Dornan was envious of where Pattinson’s career was going.

Jamie Dornan was “quite jealous” of Robert Pattinson’s career early on

During an interview in a video with Wired (according to Variety) posted in August, Dornan answered questions with his Heart of Stone co-stars, Gal Gadot and Alia Bhatt. When the topic of Pattinson came up, the 41-year-old actor didn’t shy away from saying nice things about him:

"“I’ve known Rob forever. He’s a really good friend. I love him. I think he’s one of the most investing, exciting actors around. I probably at one point was quite jealous early on. We were all friends back in London and Rob was going places and we weren’t. I think he’s the nicest guy in the world.”"

Next up, you can catch Pattinson in The Batman 2, which is currently slated for an Oct. 2025 release date — but could potentially be pushed back due to the strikes — and we’re unsure what Dornan is up to next. Of course, the ongoing writers’ and actors’ strikes have put American productions on hold, so we might have to wait a bit to see these two heartthrobs on our screens again.
