Who’s ready for a new fall television show on NBC? We sure are! Mark your calendars for Monday, Sept. 25, 2023 when The Irrational premieres on NBC. Who makes up the cast list in the freshman series?

The first episode airs at 10 p.m. ET on the network. Overall, the show received a 10-episode order, and new episodes will also be available to stream on Peacock the next day. In a time where there aren’t many scripted projects due to the strikes in Hollywood, this is a rare gem at the moment.

We’ve got “world-renowned professor” Alec Mercer at the center of the story. The behavioral science specialist has a unique way of understanding human behavior, which comes in handy with law enforcement, per the synopsis. The series explores Alec coming to the aid of these organizations and leading his own team in solving cases.

Jesse L. Martin plays the lead role of Alec Mercer. The actor’s notable roles include Ed Green on Law & Order and Captain Joe West on The Flash. Check out the full cast list below:

  • Travina Springer as Kylie, Alec’s younger sister

The show was created by by Arika Mittman, who also serves as a writer alongside Mark Goffman, Sam Baum, and David Frankel. The group are also executive producers on the project. The drama is based on the book Predictably Irrational: The Hidden Forces That Shape Our Decisions by author Dan Ariely. He serves as a consultant.

The Irrational premieres Monday, Sept. 25, 2023 on NBC. Episodes are also available to stream on Peacock the next day.
