What is the Korean series on Paramount+ about?
Just like many Korean shows and movies, get ready for a wild ride! And I can tell you just by watching the trailer, this series is not for the faint of heart. In Bargain, we see that a trafficking ring lures men to a remote hotel “under the guise of sexual encounters,” per the synopsis. However when the men arrive at the hotel, the plan of those in charge of the trafficking ring is to actually auction off their organs to the highest bidder. But one day, the operation gets derailed after a natural disaster hits. Read on below for the full synopsis from Paramount+ to get more details on what that is:
"In Bargain, men are lured to a remote hotel under the guise of sexual encounters only to be caught in a trafficking ring where their organs are auctioned off to the highest bidder. After a catastrophic earthquake, the victims, traffickers and buyers all are trapped inside the crumbling building. Cut off from the outside world, they must fight to survive the aftermath at any cost."
The series is based on the 2015 short film of the same name from director Lee Chung-hyun. This time around, Jeon Woo-sung, who was on the production team for the movie, took on directing and writing duties for the television version of the story. Byun Seungmin and Bang Jin Ho serve as co-creators and showrunners.
Jin Sun-kyu takes on the role of Noh Hyung Soo. Overseas, the South Korean actor is known for crime action film The Outlaws and comedy movie Extreme Job. Jun Jong-seo is Park Joo Young in Bargain. The South Korean actress is known for psychological thriller productions Burning and The Call, as well as television series Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area. The show is streaming on Netflix.
