The Addams Family came out on Nov. 22, 1991 and followed the family who generations before met in the 1960’s. In the film, the family has been without their Uncle Fester after he disappeared years ago.
Then a scheming woman named Dr. Greta Pinderschloss arrives with her employee and his wife, claiming her son, who looks exactly like their long lost Uncle and brother, is Fester, leading to plenty of shenanigans.
The Addams Family cast ages
There was a sequel to the movie, Addams Family Values, which followed Uncle Fester’s search for love and the woman he met who is not what she seems. It was released two years after the first film and featured many of the same characters, including Joan Cusack as Debbie. It’s such a classic and fun film to watch, especially during the Halloween season. The Addams Family is available to stream on Paramount+.
Raul Julia as Gomez Addams
Raul Julia played Gomez Addams, the patriarch of the beloved family. Born on March 9, 1940, Julia was 50 years old when the film premiered. Unfortunately, Julia would pass away at the age of 54 on Oct. 24, 1994, a year after the sequel’s release. He was also known for roles in Street Fighter and Kiss of the Spider Woman.
Anjelica Huston as Morticia Addams
Born on July 8, 1951, Angelica Huston was 40 years old at the time of the film’s release. She played Morticia Addams, the matriarch of the family. Huston is also known for roles in The Witches and Ever After: A Cinderella Story. Today, she is 72 years old.
Christopher Lloyd as Fester Addams
Christopher Lloyd is one of the most recognizable names in Hollywood, with roles spanning from the 1978 series Taxi to the Back to the Future trilogy. In The Addams Family, he portrayed Fester Addams. Born on Oct. 22, 1938, he was 53 at the time the film premiered. He will be celebrating his 85th birthday in October 2023.
Dan Hedaya as Tully Alford
Born on July 24, 1940, Hedaya was 50 when the film premiered. He portrayed Tully Alford in the first film but did not appear in the second. He has also had roles in Cheers, The First Wives Club, Clueless, and has also appeared in Blue Bloods. Today he is 83 years old.
Elizabeth Wilson as Abigail Craven
Playing the role of the antagonist in The Addams Family, Wilson perfectly portrayed Abigail Craven, also known as Dr. Greta Pinderschloss. She came up with the con to claim her son was the Addams’s long lost Uncle Fester in order to take their fortune. Born on April 4, 1921, Wilson was 70 when the film debuted. Unfortunately, she has since passed away on May 9, 2015 at age 94. She is also known for other roles including the 1956 film Patterns and the 1967 film The Graduate.
Judith Malina as Grandma Addams
Born on June 4, 1926, Malina took on the role of Grandma Addams at age 65 in the original film with Carol Kane in the role in the sequel. She is also known for roles in The Secret of My Success, When in Rome, and Dog Day Afternoon. Malina sadly passed away on April 10, 2015 at age 88.
Carel Struycken as Lurch
Best known for his role as Lurch, Struycken was born on July 30, 1948 making him 43 when the film premiered. His other roles have included Men in Black, the 1990 Twin Peaks series, and The Witches of Eastwick. Today he is 75 years old.
Christina Ricci as Wednesday Addams
Born on Feb. 12, 1980, actress Christina Ricci was 11 years old when she took on the role of Wednesday Addams. She has been acting since she was a child and has had roles in Mermaids, Monstrous, Black Snake Moan, Monster and Casper. Today, she is 43 years old.
Dana Ivey as Margaret Alford
Born on Aug.12, 1941, Ivey was 50 when she played the role of Margaret Alford in the original film. She was the wife of Tully Alford, but would eventually find love withe Addams’s Cousin Itt. Jimmy Workman as Pugsley Addams
Born on Oct. 4, 1980, Workman was 11 when the film was released. He played Pugsley Addams and has also appeared in roles including As Good as It Gets and The Biggest Fan. Today, he is 43 years old.
Christopher Hart as Thing
Hart may be most recognizable by his hands, as he often uses his hands to act, such as in the role of Thing in The Addams Family. He was born on Feb. 22, 1961, making him 30 when the film was released. Today, he is 62 yeas old.
